For 2026 the direction is unmistakable: texture over pattern, warm over cool, Indian craft over imported motifs, and walls that photograph well on a phone in evening light. Here are the nine looks designers are actually specifying, with a real wall for each, the room it belongs in, the finish to print it on, and what it costs.
2026 in one glance
- Texture is the year's big move: limewash, plaster, linen and stone prints replace flat colour.
- Warm metallics (brass, not chrome) move from accent to whole wall.
- Indian craft, Pichwai above all, leaves the pooja room for the living room.
- Palettes: ivory, sand, sage, terracotta, ink. Cool greys are out.

Preview on my wall1. Limewash and plaster textures
The biggest shift of the year. Flat paint reads as unfinished next to a wall that has depth, and real limewash is expensive, streaky to apply and fussy to maintain. A printed limewash texture gives you the cloudy, hand-troweled movement at a fraction of the cost, in a colour you choose, and it wipes clean.
Where: living rooms, bedrooms, foyers; any wall that gets side light.
Finish: Linen Texture (₹200/sq ft) adds a real tooth under the printed texture; Art Matte (₹160) if you want it flat.
Pair with: oak, cane, terracotta, unglazed ceramics.
2. Brushed brass and warm metallics
Gold went from accent to surface. A brushed brass wall behind a dining table or a bar unit picks up evening light and makes a small room feel deliberate. The trick is restraint: one wall, matte everything else, and a deep green or ink on the opposite wall so the brass has something to glow against.
Where: dining rooms, foyers, bar corners, powder rooms.
Finish: Pearl Metallic (₹220) for a true sheen; Stardust (₹270) for a festive sparkle.
Avoid: on the headboard wall; metallic under a reading lamp glares.
3. The Pichwai revival
Devotional art has moved out of the pooja room and onto living-room walls. Lotus ponds, cows and peacocks in the Nathdwara style, drawn fresh by our artists rather than scanned from a painting, and scaled up to mural size, are the most requested heritage brief we get. It works because the palette (deep green, gold, lotus pink) is exactly the 2026 palette.
Where: living room sofa wall, dining wall, of course the pooja alcove.
Finish: Crystal Canvas (₹230) for the painted look; Linen Texture for a softer wall.
Scale tip: one scene across the whole wall; never a small repeating Pichwai tile.
4. Arch geometry
Repeating arches echo haveli, Art Deco and Mediterranean architecture without the cost of building one. In a foyer they read as a colonnade; behind a bed they frame the headboard. Keep the palette to two tones and let the arches be the only pattern in the room.
Where: foyers, hallways, headboard walls, cafés.
Finish: Art Matte or Soft Grain (₹180).
Scale tip: arches at least 2 ft wide on a domestic wall; smaller reads as tile.
5. Tropical leaf, but quieter
The loud banana-leaf print of 2022 has matured into muted greens on warm neutrals. It still gives the resort feeling, minus the visual noise, and it is the one pattern that survives on a large wall without tiring the eye.
Where: living rooms, balconies that have been enclosed, dining nooks.
Finish: Lustre Satin (₹170) if the wall gets touched; Linen Texture otherwise.
6. Terrazzo and stone
Terrazzo chips, travertine slabs and river stones are the practical trend: forgiving of fingerprints, easy to wipe, and they make bathrooms and hallways look built rather than decorated. Printed stone also avoids the two problems of real stone, weight and grout lines.
Where: bathrooms away from the shower, hallways, kitchens away from the hob, café counters.
Finish: Lustre Satin for wipeability; Leather Grain (₹190) for a stony hand feel.
7. Relief and 3D grids
Printed shadows do a surprising amount of work. A relief grid behind a TV unit gives the wall structure that a flat colour never will, and it hides cable clutter in plain sight. The rendered light source in the design should match the room's window side; tell us which side and we flip the file.
Where: media walls, office receptions, staircases.
Finish: Soft Grain or Art Matte; keep it matte so the printed shadows do the talking.
8. Monsoon landscapes
Misty hills, rain-washed skies and terraced fields in soft greys and greens are the calm counterpoint to all the warmth above. Bedrooms and studies mostly, and any room that faces north. They make small rooms feel deeper because the horizon line pulls the eye back.
Where: bedrooms, studies, clinic waiting rooms.
Finish: Art Matte or Linen Texture.
Placement tip: set the horizon at eye level from the bed or desk, about 4 ft from the floor. We position it on the proof.
9. Jaali screens
Mughal jaali patterns printed at scale read as architecture rather than pattern. Best on a single wall with strong daylight so the pattern casts its own visual shadow, and in ivory-on-sand rather than white-on-white so it does not disappear.
Where: foyers, staircase walls, behind a console.
Finish: Leather Grain or Linen Texture.
On the way out
- Cool grey everything. Replaced by sand, ivory and sage.
- Small busy repeats (tiny florals, damask at wallpaper-roll scale). One large motif per wall instead.
- Glossy 3D brick and fake marble with a printed shine. Matte, textured prints have taken over.
- Imported stock murals with the same New York skyline in every showroom. Buyers want something drawn for them.

Which wallpaper trend will last beyond 2026?

Is textured wallpaper hard to maintain in Indian humidity?
