A bedroom wall has one job: help you sleep, then look good at 7 a.m. That rules out high-contrast patterns, anything glossy on the wall you face from the pillow, and most of what works in a living room. These ten walls, all from our catalogue and all shown on real bedrooms, keep to soft contrast, warm neutrals and matte finishes. After the ideas: the headboard-wall rule, colour and sleep, small-bedroom tricks, kids' and guest rooms, and what it costs.
Bedroom rules
- Paper the headboard wall only. You see it from the door and never from the pillow.
- Matte finishes on any wall you look at lying down; metallics glare under a reading lamp.
- Contrast low, chroma low: sand, sage, blush, blue-grey, indigo on off-white.
- A 10 × 9 ft headboard wall (90 sq ft) is ₹11,610 on Easy Matte, ₹14,400 on Art Matte, ₹18,000 on Linen Texture.
- Kids' rooms: peel-and-stick, because tastes change and the wall comes down cleanly.
Behind the headboard
1. Linen weave. The safest beautiful choice. Texture, no pattern, warm in lamplight. Pair with white bedding and a cane headboard.

2. Drifting cloud sky. Blue-grey clouds, barely there. The bestseller for master bedrooms this year; the room feels taller because the clouds lighten toward the ceiling.

3. Almond blossom branch. A single branch across the wall, so the pattern never repeats. Ask for the branch to enter from the window side; we flip the file.

4. Moon phase arc. For the room that wants one idea and nothing else. Centre the full moon above the bed on the proof.

Indian craft, quietly
5. Indigo block print. Bagru-style repeat in indigo on off-white. Small enough to read as fabric, large enough not to strobe.

6. Chikankari white. Lucknow embroidery drawn as tone-on-tone white. Bright rooms only; in a dim room it disappears.

7. Single-line botanical. One continuous line drawing on warm ivory. Modern flats, minimal furniture.

Colour without noise
8. Watercolour wash ombre. Blush into sand; darker toward the floor so the ceiling feels higher. The one to choose for a low-ceilinged room.

9. Raw silk texture. Warm and slubbed, in champagne. Reads as upholstery.

10. Hummingbird and vine. Fine-line birds on sage for a guest room with personality; too lively for a master bedroom.

The headboard-wall rule
Paper the wall behind the bed. You see it when you walk in, it frames the bed like a headboard twice the size, and you never stare at it from the pillow. The wall opposite the bed is where you look while falling asleep; keep it plain. Three papered walls close a bedroom in and make it read smaller.
Colour and sleep
Low chroma and low contrast are what matter, not any single colour. Blue-grey, sage, sand, blush and indigo-on-ivory all work. Saturated red, orange and pure white patterns on dark grounds keep the eye moving. Warm whites (2700 K) in bedside lamps make sand and blush glow; cool whites turn them grey.
Small bedrooms
- Ombre that darkens toward the floor raises the ceiling.
- A landscape with a horizon at pillow height (about 2.5 ft) deepens the wall.
- A single large motif reads bigger than a busy repeat; the blossom branch over a small floral, always.
- Keep the wardrobe wall plain; wallpaper next to a mirrored wardrobe doubles visually.
Kids' and guest rooms
Kids: peel-and-stick, wipeable, and a scene they can grow into (jungle friends, woodland, hot-air balloons) rather than a character they will outgrow. Guest rooms are where the lively pattern goes: hummingbirds, a Kalamkari, a bolder block print.

Frequently asked questions
Which finish is best for a bedroom?
Linen Texture or Art Matte. Both are matte, soft in lamplight and wipeable. Skip Pearl Metallic and Stardust on the headboard wall.
Is wallpaper safe for a child's bedroom?
Yes. Our inks are UV-cured pigment, odour-free once printed, and the finishes wipe clean. See the kids and nursery collection for scaled-down patterns.
Can I get a sample first?
Yes. A Design Sample is ₹199 and credited back on your order; it shows your chosen design on the real finish.
Dark or light wallpaper in a bedroom?
Mid-tone. Very light disappears; very dark closes the room. Blue-grey, sage and sand are the sweet spot.
Should the wallpaper match the curtains?
Complement, do not match. Pick one colour from the curtains and use it as an accent in the print; we can recolour for free.
Can I wallpaper the ceiling above the bed?
We do not recommend it; ceilings are painted. A cloud print on the headboard wall gives the same feeling.
